Dry Skin!! Oh What A Problem It Is. What I Did To Combat My Dry Itchy Skin

Life With T

Since I finished my chemotherapy/immunotherapy treatment for my NHL in October 2020 my entire skin has changed, I was suddenly dry and itchy I would spend half the night awake scratching my legs and other area’s of my body to the point where I would make myself bleed. I asked my doctor and he really couldn’t give me any answers as to what was going and then of course as a last resort as I laid up scratching one night …… I googled….. and….. the numerous amount of deadly illnesses I then had let’s just say I spent a good hefty few weeks itchy, not sleeping and riddled with anxiety.

I tried so many products, if I had to write out a list it would need its own blog post so I will keep it short with the products that immediately stopped my itching and hydrated my skin leaving me (as the Zohan would say) feeling silky smooth.

First off I began with exfoliating the skin this can be done one of two ways using a dry brush daily or a few times a week, or using a physical scrub once a week or once every two weeks to remove that dry outer layer of dead skin. I personally love tree hut scrubs they are affordable and come in a bunch of different scents, they really leave your body smooth after use.

Second step after you get out of the shower pat your skin dry when toweling off. The idea is to keep as much moisture on the body as you can, but of course be sure you throughly dry your unmentionables.

Lastly immediately upon drying off apply your lotion and the lotion I highly recommend is Nivea’s cocoa butter 48 hour intense moisture and radiant skin and yes that is what is says on the tub I will insert a photo below. After spending so much money on high end and drug store lotions this one immediately stopped my skin from being itchy and dry and left me with soft supple hydrated skin.

Now this of course may not work for everyone but this is what worked for me and if I can help someone who could be suffering just like I did for months on end with no relief well then I am doing the job I sought out when I decided to start blogging.

Even if your not interested in the scrub you can make your own as well using brown sugar and olive oil or any carrier oil to brown sugar and go to town on your body it works just as well there are some great DIY on YouTube. At the very least give the lotion a shot if your an itchy b**ch like I was it’s inexpensive and I was finally able to lay in bed at night and sleep peacefully.

So with that thank you for taking the time to read my latest blog, please stay safe sending love and positive vibes your way all day every day until next time ❤️❤️
